What compression ratio do your diesel engines run?
Naturally aspirated DI diesel engines run 17.5 : 1 – 18.5 : 1. At this ratio compressed air reaches ~500–600°C, exceeding diesel autoignition temperature without a spark plug.
What is prime power vs standby power for gensets?
Prime Rated Power (PRP) supports unlimited hours at ~70–80% average load. Standby power (STP) covers grid-failure backup at 100% load but is limited to ≤200 hrs/year — never size a continuous-duty site on STP ratings.
How do I calculate NPSHa for a pump installation?
NPSHa = (Patm/ρg) + Hs − Hf,suction − Pv/ρg. Always maintain a minimum 0.5 m margin above the pump's NPSHr. Altitude reduces Patm — derate by ~0.12 m per 100 m above MSL.
How do I convert SFC (g/kWh) to litres per hour?
L/hr = (SFC × kW) / (1000 × 0.845), where 0.845 kg/L is diesel density. A 10 HP (7.35 kW) engine at 255 g/kWh consumes ≈ 2.2 L/hr at full load.
